East Sussex League

Welcome

Welcome to season 2009-10 we have again tried to alleviate end of season fixture congestion this time by increasing the number of divisions to eight and reducing the number of teams in each.

Unfortunately the Eastbourne League was unable to continue after many years, and we have accepted Hampden Park Utd, Parkfield & Winkney Seniors into the League along with new applicants AFC Sidley, Eastbourne Rangers, Eastbourne Town III, OringtonII & Polegate Town II.

Also there have been a name change for Red Lion who become Demon Barbers, & Sedlescombe who have merged with the local youth section to become Sedlescombe Rangers.

All these teams are welcome to the East Sussex League where it is intended that they shall enjoy league & cup fixtures in competitive completion.

The Officers & Management committee have worked hard on financial matters, achieving an increased grant from the Football Association, which assists in keeping the annual subscription and fines at the lowest level in the County.

Match based suspensions have been introduced by the Football Association this season in the Premier division only, which I am sure will test club secretaries, team managers and the Leagues administrators until we get used to it!

With the media again focusing on the darker elements of the national game, the East Sussex League again commit to ensuring a sporting attitude by players, club officials and spectators shall prevail and we will support the Respect campaign to stamp out offensive, abusive and threatening behaviour. The League supports the F.I.F.A campaign against racial abuse, there is no place for this behaviour at any level of football, and the breaches that bring the League into disrepute will be dealt with accordingly.

Please ensure all correspondence is dealt with PROMPTLY as all our officers are volunteers, & cannot afford to constantly chase, which could result in club SUSPENSION and loss of points.

Our web site is an excellent source of information for over 10,000 visitors each month, managed by Paul Hammond who works hard to keep the information up to date on a daily basis with news, fixtures, results and league tables. This has assisted in attracting & retaining our league and cup sponsors.

Enjoy the new season 2009-2010
